It’s that time of the year where the holidays are over and students are back in Winona. Sure, classes are in session but not much to do otherwise. Have no worries because this blog is all about what you can do to keep entertained around good ol Winona. Minnesota is known for their cold and snow right? However there is a plus side to all this snow because Mount LaCrosse is about a 40 minute drive away. Yes, it can be expensive with rentals and lift tickets, however there are tons of deals available. Monday night is only $11 for a ski/snowboard ticket and $5 off rentals. Tuesday and Thursday nights also have great deals on tickets and rentals as well. Sure it may be cold out, It’s Minnesota, but bundle up and get out there for some fresh air. Grab a group of friends and try something different, you have nothing to lose!
For a tasty treat to stay warm, I advise to bring hot chocolate. If you want to try it homemade style and go a little out of the box I have the perfect recipe for you. First, put cocoa powder in saucepan. Stir in milk a bit at a time until cocoa liquefies; add remainder. Add chocolate chips; melt over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Lastly, bring to boil, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla and pinch of salt. Ladle into mugs; top with whipped cream, if desired.
- 1/4 cup unsweetened coco powder
- 1 quart milk
- 1 cup (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- Whipped cream, (optional)
Good Luck 🙂
